I raise Nigerian Dwarf goats 20 miles south of Albuquerque, in Bosque Farms NM. As I write this I am aware that it has been eight years now since moving to the country and beginning my homesteading adventure. The learning curve has been steep and I am fortunate to have received a lot of support and mentoring along the way. Since moving here in 2010 I have worked hard on the evolving property with the mission of being as sustainably self-reliant as I can be. This has included rain barrels, additional insulation, solar panels, gardening and livestock. This is where the real fun comes in! My daughter did a lot of research about goats and we settled on Nigerian Dwarfs because of their hardiness, ease of kidding, and portability. We chose excellent lines to start our herd with , looking for show quality goats and good milkers. What I didn't know, or expect, is what amazing creatures they are! They are funny, curious and very intelligent. Kidding time is so exciting! Our babies all are dam raised when possible. They are disbudded and receive appropriate vaccinations. They are fed alfalfa, grass hay and browse. And, they receive lots of love and handling. All of our goats for sale are double registrable through AGS and ADGA. If this is your first time purchasing goats, keep in mind that goats are herd animals and need at least one friend in the pen with them. If you have any questions about my experiences with nigerian dwarf goats or would like to come out and meet the herd, feel free to contact me.
